Frequently Asked Questions

-
Do you have a building? As of right now, I do not have a building. However, it is a hope for the future!
-
Where do you get your ingredients from?We source our ingredients from local grocery stores, but also grow many of the ingredients using a garden and a tower garden. The tower garden is used to grow tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, spinach, chives, bay leaves, basil, and other herbs.
-
What is soul food?Soul food is comfort food (think fried chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens, and roast potatoes). I love its versatility. For me, it's following in the footsteps of my grandma's cooking but with my own spin on it. It is food that is meant to be passed through generations.
-
Do you have any vegan or gluten-free options?I am in the process of creating a more vegan-friendly menu. The okra soup is a popular side option for those following a vegan diet. I offer other types of soups upon request. Currently, I cannot guarantee that any of my menu items are gluten-free.
-
What does the ordering process look like?First, we kindly ask that you fill out the contact form found on the website. LaShonda will reach out to you within 24 hours to confirm and further discuss your event. Shortly after confirmation, you'll be provided with an invoice. Then, you're all set!
-
How do I pay? After an invoice is sent, you'll be able to pay using Square (card only).
-
When should I book my event? At least 4 weeks in advance, preferably.
-
How far do you travel for events? We currently cater to South Bend, Mishawaka, and Elkhart, IN. If your event takes place outside of these cities within a reasonable distance, travel and delivery fees can be negotiated.
-
What is the difference between drop-off, buffet, and plated service?Drop-off service is the no-frills option that ensures your food gets dropped off before your event, at a time convenient for you. For buffet service, we'll handle the cooking, the set-up, the serving (buffet-style), and the cleaning. For plated service, we still handle the cooking, the set-up, and the cleaning, but table service is provided and food is plated for each guest.
